Product Description
Steve Richards is a licensed real estate broker, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), former Denver radio announcer, guitarist & composer of many years, private investigator, published author, and even a "Professional Tourist (truck driver)." His previous book, "Everything You Will Ever Need To Know To Start Driving A Big Truck, Or How I Became A Professional Tourist," has repeatedly reached #1 Best Seller status on Amazon.com in the "Trucks and Vans" category. The newest book, "Driving A Big Truck; The Adventure Continues From A Different Perspective," is a more compelling, introspective, and even an acrimoniously analytical tractate into the potentially arduous and inauspicious world of life as a "Professional Tourist."
If you have ever considered life on the highway as a big rig operator, or maybe you just wanted to get an idea of what is going on out there in the "big world," and do it from a very pragmatic and realistic point of view, it will never be presented in a more clear and concise analogy, than it is right here on these pages. Along with "more" numerous and diversified ways for you to get paid for being on a permanent vacation, this new book will also help you in dealing with the multifariously multitudinous pitfalls (Uhhh, what?) that are inevitable on this obstacle course of peregrination. It is all covered from the view of an expert in this field, and perhaps even a fool, for considering some of these escapades. While the previous work is a most serious prerequisite to the new piece, in showing anyone off the street how to enter successfully into a unique and different way of life, this sequel provides a wealth of new and useful information (and endless amusement) for any and all highway travelers. Just what exactly is going on up there in the cab of those giant monster machines? More than you might ever imagine. Written from a more humorous, but also a discerning & judicious perspective, this is life in the world of big trucks, and maybe even life in general. YOURS? Hmmm.

Dirk Daring Said: An outstanding followup book! ( Jan. 6th 2009 )
Having read and reviewed the first book, I thought I'd better check out this latest one. I've been driving trucks for a bunch of years, so I am always wondering what other drivers have to go through, and want to know if they have had to put up with some of the same things I have. The answer is right here in this book. It is a huge affirmative!
If you are just starting out and thinking about driving a big truck, then the first book,Everything You Will Ever Need To Know To Start Driving A Big Truck Or How I Became A Professional Tourist is an excellent place to start. It is the one to get you rollin, when you don't have any idea what to expect or what you are getting into. It is the one to answer all the questions, that you need to know about trucking, before they become an overwhelming nightmare.
"Driving A Big Truck, The Adventure Continues From A Different Perspective," is written more from the point of view of someone, who has been at this for quite awhile. It is highly critical of things like the United States Postal Service, various state Departments of Transportation, trucking companies and their management, even your average 4 wheeler operator, and quite a few other things. It is all true. I have seen it many times.
While some of these adventures are really humorous, and especially when you are reading about them from the comforts of a real home, sitting in your recliner, they are quite intense, when you are actually out on the highway in a big truck and experiencing the reality of life and death situations. These things happen every day somewhere on the highway. It is the reality of truck driving.
People that actually go out and make their living doing this stuff, are what keeps this economy rolling along. Without them, life would be very different, if not impossible. There really are no other books like these two out there. Even if you don't drive big rigs, and don't ever want to try, you can learn plenty by reading this stuff.
Because I have been through many similar situations as the ones here, I can say it is truly amazing, that anyone would still consider truck driving as an option, when it includes so many obstacles. The public in general has so little idea, what the average truck driver has to put up with, just in order to survive each day. Stuff such as is written on these pages should be required reading for all, because as they say, "Without the trucks, everything stops!"
I don't know if Steve Richards will write any more on trucking, but the 2 books he has written so far really tell it all. It is great stuff! There is really nothing else like this out there, and at least one person is talking. Highly recommended!
